POSTSCRIPT
Arriving at the home of their cousins in Irving, Pennsylvania, they had two suitcases, a radio, and $200 to their name. After a week, Joseph got a job in a factory, and he found them a home. Those beginnings there were difficult. In 1953, Janka had a daughter, Barbara. Because Joseph’s job was not going well, they decided to move to a larger city. In 1954, they moved to Detroit, Michigan, and found a home in the town of Hamtramck. After a few months, Joseph found work at General Motors. Although there were many layoffs, Joseph was always called back. Janka found work too, at Ford Hospital. There, they bought their first home. Their children were healthy, and they did well in school. This adopted land was good to them. There, they finally found peace. For the new generation of grandchildren and great-grandchildren everything is possible in life. But you must never lose your faith in God, or your honor. Love your homeland, as well as your family. Janka
